To celebrate the upcoming spring launch of their new business, mother-daughter duo Connie and Lanaya Flavelle wanted to create something beautiful. They teamed up with Bisou Bridal, WildRose Flowers, The Artistry Collective and model Elly Mayday to design and photograph a romantic bridal experience. The shoot offers brides-to-be an exclusive look into the services they’ll offer.

“As a fashion photographer,” Lanaya says, “I’ve always made a conscious effort to include body positive messages in my work.” She reached out to B.C.-born, New York-based model Elly Mayday to shoot with them. “Elly is a prominent figure in the plus-size community and has empowered her extensive fan base with messages of self-acceptance and perseverance,” says Lanaya. Elly is also fighting her second battle with ovarian cancer, about which she writes on her website.

Elly wore two Galia Lahav gowns from Bisou Bridal for this romantic shoot. For her final look, Elly wore a veil and matching handmade sash with vintage brooches, made by Connie. Katrina from The Artistry Collective gave Elly a fresh modern look for the shoot: “Katrina’s bridal-meets-editorial style was exactly the look we wanted for this project,” says Lanaya.

Flavelle & Co kept the set design simple, only pulling in fresh floral arrangements by WildRose Flowers, alongside an ornate full-length mirror and cozy furs.

Styled sessions, wedding photography, event rentals and an online boutique are all part of Flavelle & Co’s collaborative service. “We’ve united our years of experience in the fashion industry with our network of talented artists to create the perfect solution for trendsetting couples,” explains Lanaya.
